On March 10th we finally became a Community Interest Company, aka CIC.
It took some doing, too. Companies House queried the use of the word “Council” in our name which, on reflection, shouldn’t have been a surprise.
It meant a tad of dashing about in late February, getting Cllr Steve Bedser (and the legal team) at Birmingham City Council to say it was OK, and for a spread of other organisations — the Med School, Warwick Crop Centre, Minor Weir and Willis, Growing Birmingham and Birmingham Public Health to also write a letter saying they thought it was a Good Idea.
All that effort has paid off, and here we are. Birmingham Food Council CIC. Oh yes.
