Food to feed Birmingham people in need

Fareshare is a food redistribution charity.  Their concept is simple but brilliant – take edible food that would otherwise have been thrown away, and feed it to people in need.

Fareshare West Midlands currently distribute food to over 50 projects in the Birmingham and Coventry area, but they have scope to support more…

…charities, social enterprise and school breakfast clubs in Birmingham looking for good food are encouraged to get in touch!

Some statistics:

  • Fareshare estimates 10% of the food wasted in the UK is fit for human consumption, enough food for 800 million meals.
  • Last year they redistributed 5,500 tonnes of food. The majority being fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products.
  • This supported the work of 1,290 charities and helped feed 62,200 people a day.

In case you haven’t guessed, we think what they are doing is great!
