Local approaches to childhood obesity

Local Authorities are employing varied and innovative approaches to tackle childhood obesity.  Some of these are outlined in a new report by the Local Government Association, Healthy Weight, Healthy Futures.

Birmingham’s Child Poverty Needs Assessment 2015

Birmingham’s Child Poverty Commission has launched their 2015 Child Poverty Needs Assessment, which contains some interesting statistics around childhood obesity in Birmingham and how this relates to other indicators of child poverty.

Birmingham has the 311th highest rate of childhood obesity of 324 Local Authorities – one in four of our children is obese by the time they leave primary school.
